I spent 25 years serving with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, working alongside firefighters, paramedics, and fellow first responders who answered the call day in and day out—often at great personal cost. Through those years, I witnessed not only incredible courage and professionalism, but also the unseen toll the job can take long after the sirens are silent.

First Responders Foundation was created to change that.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to rescue dogs from shelters and train them as service dogs, then provide them free of charge to first responders who are struggling with PTSD, trauma, or the long-term effects of service. In doing so, we’re not just saving dogs—we’re creating life-changing partnerships built on trust, purpose, and healing.

These dogs offer more than companionship. They provide stability, comfort, and a sense of grounding that words alone often cannot. I’ve seen firsthand how the bond between a first responder and a trained service dog can reduce anxiety, restore confidence, and help someone reclaim their life.

This foundation is built on respect for those who serve and compassion for the animals we rescue. Every program we offer is guided by real-world experience, integrity, and the belief that help should never come with a financial barrier for those who have already given so much.
